Hello Reader,
Are you ready to plan your summer adventures? I want to help!
Midwest State Park Adventures is now live, out in the world, and ready to help you plan your summer fun. Featuring 170+ state parks, and listing all of them with select amenities, it's a unique guide that will help you get outdoors.
It's available in paperback, e-book, and hardback, and I've also got a special Midwest Adventures Bundle.
If you've pre-ordered, your book will be shipped the week of May 22. Yay!
I've also been busy writing. Yesterday I published a piece highlighting 26 places to stay in Door County, Wisconsin, which is an easy road trip from Chicago.
Coming early next week: a detailed guide to summer in Chicago. I love the city year-round, but summer's my favorite. (Free festivals and concerts and events almost daily!) And guess what: Buckingham Fountain turns on tomorrow. Woohoo!
That's it for this week. I've got a summer guide to write.
If you're looking for more things to do this weekend, check out Your Chicago Guide's events calendar.
That's it for this week!
Happy weekend!

Hello Reader, Four years ago, on April 16, 2021, I wrote “The End” on a manuscript that changed everything. If you’ve been with me for a while, you know how much I love bringing stories to life—whether they’re about mysteries, road trips, or the history that shaped Chicago. This particular manuscript was Living Landmarks of Chicago, and I wrote most of it while I was taking chemotherapy for breast cancer. Researching and writing this love story to the Windy City kept me going, and I finished...

Hello Reader! In a recent e-mail, I mentioned that I was converting my Simple Self-Publishing Course into an incredibly affordable membership. As in, less than $10 a month affordable. Why? Because publishing a book can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. I know from experience. I'm an author who’s published sixteen books (as of February 2025) in multiple formats, fourteen of them since April 2021. My backlist includes nonfiction, fiction, and two anthologies with over a dozen...
